Business Advocacy
Government Affairs Committee
The Board of Directors of the Ulster County Regional Chamber of Commerce has established a Government Affairs Committee, comprised of board members and other local business leaders. This committee meets on a regular basis to review the status of current local economic development projects, discuss the impact of pending legislation at the local, state and federal level and consider other issues of concern to the business community.
When warranted, the committee will conduct informational Shirtsleeve Sessions, where business leaders will be given the opportunity to speak with commercial developers in an informal setting, to allow local leaders a chance to better understand the merits of a project.
As a means of educating our members and the general public, select projects will be given the opportunity to be featured at one of our popular monthly breakfast meetings.
After thorough review, if a project garners the support of the Government Affairs Committee and the Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, the chamber will actively promote and support that project through email blasts to our members, direct links to the proposed project from our website, write letters of support to government officials and offer written comment and/or speak at public hearings.
